Teen on Bike Struck, Seriously Injured on New York Avenue

A Huntington Station teen riding his bike on New York Avenue was seriously injured Friday when he was struck by a car, Suffolk County police said.

Emilio Bonilla, 15, was riding his bicycle northbound in the southbound lane of New York Avenue, when he was struck by a 2009 Toyota Corolla traveling southbound

The accident happened in front of 1848 New York Ave. at about  5:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, Yesica Lopez, 24, of Huntington Station, and her adult passenger were not injured.

Bonilla was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
