Testing Ability Expanded; New Mask Video Contest

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo extended the order allowing out-of-state medical professionals to practice in New York. “We are forever indebted to the countless doctors, nurses, physician assistants, respiratory therapists and other health care professionals from neighboring states who came to help the family of New York when we needed it most.  Today I am extending the executive order that allows these heroes to continue practicing in the Empire State, because although the apex is behind us, we continue to need their support. Words cannot express how grateful we are to them and all the frontline workers who are carrying us through this difficult period, but we will continue to try every single day.” The order was first issued March 7.

Antibody Testing Capability

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo plans to issue an executive order to expand the eligibility of people who can conduct antibody tests to help ensure as many New Yorkers as possible have access to antibody testing.  The state previously provided labs with the flexibility to allow more workers to do testing for COVID-19; this executive order expands that authority so the same workers can perform antibody tests.

Video Contest

New York is running a contest for videos about the importance of wearing face masks. Participants are asked to submit a video by May 15. Videos should be less than 30 seconds long and show a mask properly worn. The top five videos will be posted and New Yorkers can vote for their favorite. The winning video will be used as a public service announcement. For more information
