Name: Michelle Pierrot
High School: Half Hollow Hills High School East
Year Graduated: 2010
Comment about your high school experiences: I was always very involved in high school. I was a three year Varsity athlete and captain of both the Volleyball and Basketball teams. I was also National Honor Society student, a member of the legislative committee, co-president of Youth to youth teaching and treasurer of the African American Student Organization.
Immediate post-high school (college, gap year, work, etc.): Immediately following high school I attended the George Washington University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science.
What you’re doing now: Today I work in pediatric care. I am a nursing assistant in Pediatric Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I am pursing a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner. I am the founder of a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, HEY!- Healthy Excited Youth. HEY! operates in Long Island, New York City and Washington, DC providing health and wellness lessons to teens. I was crowned Miss Long Island 2019 this past August.
Comment about what you’re doing now: I love what I do and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to do it. Each day, I get to follow a dream and a passion of mine- pediatric care. Whether wearing scrubs or a crown, I work with the community to improve the lives of our next generation. High School East always instilled in me that I could accomplish any goals I sought to achieve. The high school had so many resources that, without me even recognizing it, shaped me into the young professional I am today. I hope students in our schools continue to utilize the resources available to them. I think they’d be very surprised to see how they can tailor their lives to not simply work but fulfill their dreams.
Where do your parents or family live: My family lives in Melville.
