Thunderstorms Possible for Huntington Area

Thunderstorms and showers are expected for the Huntington area, many after 5 p.m. the National Weather Service said Monday afternoon.

It said that some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning. The chance of precipitation is 70%. “New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms,” the NWS said.

An isolated tornado is possible, it said.

PSEG said, “We are ready for poentially severe thunderstorms later today.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office said that  more than 40 counties across the state are under severe storm watch, and urged caution during the commute rush hour.
