Legislator William Spencer reminds constitutents that the Suffolk County Traffic and Parking Violation Agency has enacted an amnesty program providing drivers, with past violations, the opportunity to pay their overdue traffic tickets including; parking, moving violations and red-light camera tickets without late fees and penalties. Residents have until Feb. 20 to take advantage of the program.
“Administrative costs and late fees can make it nearly impossible for some to come up to date with unsettled violations. I encourage county residents to use this window of opportunity for relief and begin the New Year with a clean slate,” stated Legislator William R. Spencer, M.D.
The program will also assist drivers whose licenses have been suspended, due to non-payment of tickets, as they will now have a less costly opportunity to come into compliance and regain their driving privileges. The amnesty program will not apply to cases where a judge has suspended the driver’s registration or ability to register a motor vehicle in New York State and cases in which a hearing for suspension is pending.
Residents who are looking to take advantage of the amnesty program may do so in person by going to the Suffolk County Traffic Court at the H.
