Toni Tepe Dies at 75; Former Huntington Supervisor and Republican Stalwart

Antonia P. “Toni” Rettaliata,  who served as Huntington town supervisor and then  chair of the Republican town committee, has died. She was 75 years old.

She had been battling cancer in recent months. Her husband, Philip H. Tepe, died three weeks ago after a heart attack.

Born in Huntington in 1944, she grew up here and married John B. Rettaliata Jr. She served in the State Assembly from 1979 to 1987, and in 1987,  was elected town supervisor. She served one term.

Town Clerk Andrew Raia said, “I’ve known Toni virtually my entire life. As a former state assemblywoman and family friend, I often consulted with her during my service in the Assembly. As a town supervisor, she tackled a host of difficult issues that helped make Huntington a better place to live today. And as a political leader, she fought hard day in and day out to help elected the most qualified candidates.

“Her service to the residents of the town of Huntington will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to their entire family. Losing a loved one any time is difficult. With the passing of her husband less than a month ago, losing two family members in such a short period of time is a tragedy.
