Town Board Extends Outdoor Dining Permits

The Town Board has approved an extension of outdoor dining permits which were scheduled to expire on Dec. 31.

Restaurants will be able to continue outdoor service until March 31 under the extension. The special use permits were approved in June to help businesses hit hard by the Covid-19 shutdown.

The Town Board also:

  • Approved action to clean up  blight on the following properties: 58 Southdown Road, Huntington, 20 Gallatin Dr., Dix Hills and 75 Centerport Road, Greenlawn. The Town Board designated the properties as blighted in September.
  • Approved the donation of a 1963 Story and Clark upright piano from Kathleen and Regina Kivlen for use at the Town of Huntington Senior Center. The piano is valued at $800.
  • Approved the donation of a “rescue stokes basket” from the Greater Huntington Council of Yacht and Boating Clubs, for use by the Huntington Harbormaster’s office.
  • Approved the purchase of six pickup trucks, for $240,000, from  Chevrolet of Smithtown, for use in snow and in general highway maintenance work.
