Town Clerk Raia Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award

Huntington Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia received the Leadership Huntington Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award during its 23rd annual gala at Crest Hollow Country Club recently.

Raia has served as Huntington Town Clerk since 1982. Leadership Huntington recognized her at its gala on Sept. 26 for her achievements as a role model to fellow Town Clerks throughout Long Island and New York state, as a leader in the Huntington Community, and pioneer as the longest-serving Town Clerk in Huntington’s history.

She has received the Town Clerk of the Year award from the Nassau-Suffolk Town Clerks’ Association and she also was named Town Clerk of the Year by the New York State Town Clerks’ Association in recognition of her achievements in promoting the role of town clerks through her professionalism and thorough knowledge of the office.

She is known for her Valentine’s Day marriage ceremony festivities where, since 1995, she has hosted a reception for the couples and guests which is supported by the generosity of local Huntington businesses. Raia also has received statewide recognition for developing a first-class Records Management Program in 1986, which includes a Records Center and Archives.

“Working in public service has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences that I have had,” she said, noting her appreciation for being able to serve town residents for nearly four decades. “I sincerely appreciate the recognition and the work that Leadership Huntington seeks to instill in all those leaders in our wonderful Town.”

Jo-Ann Raia was introduced by her son, 12th District state Assemblyman Andrew Raia, a prior Graduate of Distinction Honoree.
