Town Hall Hosts Lighting of Menorah

Huntington officials hosted a menorah lighting ceremony Monday at Town Hall on the second day of Chanukah.

Rabbi Yaakov Y. Raskin of Chabad of Huntington Village and Rabbi Asher Vaisfiche of Chabad of Huntington and Melville presided over the ceremony.

The eight-day holiday of Chanukah commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, where according to legend, Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt.

Musician Toby Tobias performed at the celebration, which was attended by Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, State Assemblyman Andrew Raia, Town Councilmen Ed Smyth and Gene Cook, Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia and Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman.
