Town Handing Out Covid-19 Test Kits

The Huntington Community Development Agency began distributing Covid-19 test kits Monday morning from its allotment of 10,000 kits.

They were handed out at Manor Field Park to Huntington residents who had registered ahead of time.

“Our community has seen improvements in the Covid numbers; however make no mistake, we must remain focused on protection,” Town Councilman Sal Ferro said “These home tests will be another tool in helping drive and keep the Covid numbers down. I’m proud of our Community Development Agency in their effort to support the needs of every Huntington resident.”

The kits were funded by the 2020 CARES Act Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) program. Each household is eligible to receive up to four over-the-counter Rapid Result COVID-19 test kits. Apply online at huntingtonny.gov/covid-test-kits.

The agency is also partnering with Value Drugs of Greenlawn to provide about 2,000 residents with free onsite Rapid Results Antigen COVID-19 test. Onsite testing is available now to registered residents. Apply at huntingtonny.gov/valuedrugscovid19testing to receive a voucher for a free test. Once approved, residents can schedule their appointment with Value Drugs. Tests will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
