Town Hangs Out Seasonal Help Wanted Signs

The Town of Huntington is in search of workers to fill jobs as the summer season approaches.

Public Safety is looking for seasonal public safety agents, with about half dozen spots available. The jobs, which require a state security guard license and a clean Class D driver’s license, pay $18 an hour. They are available now, and the town notes that a candidate can take an 8-hour security guard class to obtain the license to meet the qualifications for the seasonal position.

A seasonal agent performs such tasks as routine driving/foot patrols of town property, locking and unlocking gates at Town parks and beaches, providing security for Town events, etc.

Jobs with the parks department include:

Dix Hills Pool, lifeguards. The town has 17 lifeguards but needs 3 to 13 more. The job pays $15 an hour.

Beaches: The town needs more lifeguards and gate attendants. It has 50 lifeguard and 40 attendants, paid $15 and $11 an hour, respectively, but needs 5 to 10 more of each.

Camps: The town needs another 25 camp counselors to add to the 30 it aleady has, with pay ranging from $9.60 to $11 an hour. Camp opens July 5.
