Town Honors Crab Meadow Lifeguard

The Town Board recently recognized a lifeguard for her actions in saving two boys.

“Today the Town of Huntington will honor lifeguard Hannah Triolo for courageous and honorable actions that avoided a tragedy. With lifeguards on duty daily during the summer season, thousands of summer beachgoers rely on our certified staff of lifeguards to watch over their safety,”  Councilman Gene Cook said.

During her shift on July 16, Hannah, a lifeguard at Crab Meadow Beach, noticed two boys who got caught in the current and that one was calling for help. She immediately jumped off the lifeguard stand with a rescue tube in hand, alerting the other guards along the way with the “three-whistle blow” and rescued the boy, returning him safely to his family. “We praise Hannah today for her quick action on that fateful day. She has shown outstanding professionalism and heroic action in the face of danger and is a shining light and pride for the Town of Huntington. She is an example to be followed and we so honor her today.”
