Supervisor Ed Smyth has designated various Town of Huntington facilities as cooling centers for residents during the heat wave.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 90s throughout the week. A heat advisory is in effect Wednesday at noon through 8 p.m. Thursday.
“Please conserve power when you can, check on elderly neighbors and never leave pets outside in these temperatures,” Smyth said. “Stay hydrated and cool off at any one of these Town facilities.”
Town beaches will have extended lifeguard protection until 7 pm for the duration of the heatwave. More information on town beaches can be found at huntingtonny.gov/beaches
