Town Re-Opens Spray Park to Beat the Heat

Huntington reopened its spray park in Elwood Wednesday to help residents cope with the heat wave.

Temporary hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The park, which closed as of Labor Day, will remain closed Saturday and Sunday because of a lack of staffing. Hours for the week starting Sept. 10 will be decided that day, depending on the weather. Town beaches will remain closed because of the lack oflifeguard availability.

The Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo Memorial Spray Park has 4,900 square feet of active play, using pushbutton activation technology, with runoff collected and reused to irrigate fields at Elwood Park.
