Town to Mark Black History Month

The Town of Huntington will celebrate Black History Month on Feb. 27 with a performance honoring legendary musician John Coltrane.

Coltrane, the jazz saxophonist and composer who died in 1967, lived in Dix Hills for several years with his wife, musician Alice Coltrane. He wrote his most famous work, A Love Supreme, at the house. He is widely considered one of the greatest musicians of the modern era.

Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, a 15-year-old star guitarist who has appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber productions, including a live performance of Jesus Christ Superstar last year, will be the featured performer.

The celebration is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School.
