Townwide Fund Plans ‘America the Beautiful’ Party

The Townwide Fund of Huntington will celebrate the country’s birthday with a party July 8 at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport.

Artist Efren Andaluz will create a work of art and auction it off at the event.

“While this event is all about fun and celebrating our nation’s birthday, the need in our community has never been greater,” said Alice Marie Rorke, executive director. “Funds raised at our America the Beautiful event feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and deliver needed medical care through the carefully vetted agencies supported by donations to the Townwide Fund.”

The fundraiser will include a casual Americana-themed buffet dinner with live music.

Music will be provided by “SPECTRUM the Band.”

Andaluz  said that he hasn’t yet decided what he will create on the spot. “I have to take on day to think about it,” he said. “I have to create a concept having to do with America, something enlightening and inspiring. I have a few ideas.”

He said that during the height of the Covid-19 epidemic, he posted videos of himself painting works of art  to his Instagram page. Creating a work in front of a live crowd is something new.

Tickets can be purchased on the Townwide Fund’s website at $200 per person. Register at www.townwidefund.org.The Townwide Fund of Huntington, founded in 1961 by a group of private citizens, annually supports more than 30 local charitable organizations.
