Starting Wednesday, traffic patterns will change at the Deer Park Road interchange at the Northern State Parkway.
Motorists should expect to see a new, permanent traffic pattern with a new ramp for exit 42N from eastbound Northern State Parkway to northbound Route 231 will open. This ramp closed last month and has been rebuilt into a wider, longer ramp with an extended deceleration lane.
Exiting traffic will merge into a new lane on Deforest Road and turn right onto Route 231 at a new traffic signal.
The exit 42S ramp from eastbound Northern State Parkway will now be exclusively for southbound Route 231 traffic. This ramp had tentatively been accepting northbound traffic while construction of the new ramp was underway.
Directional signs and electronic message signs have been placed in the area to guide motorists.
