LIRR Service Diversions, Longer Commutes Will Continue Monday

The Long Island Rail Road said Sunday that while work on the Cherry Avenue bridge is expected to conclude Monday, Port Jefferson trains will continue to be diverted to the South Shore.

Commuters were warned to expect longer travel times of up to an hour. Passengers are encouraged to use the Babylon, Hempstead or Montauk branches instead of Port Jefferson or Ronkonkoma. The project was initially expected to be completed in 48 hours.
