Troop 409’s Newest Eagle Scout Honored

Legislator Susan A. Berland recently attended a Court of Honor for Troop 409 of Dix Hills’ latest Eagle Scout, Ryan M. Miller.

Miller was presented with a County Proclamation and a 16th Legislative District pin for his hours of work that he dedicated to his Eagle Scout Project, which constructed park benches for a 9/11 memorial honoring local fallen firefighter Terry Farrell.

The project included building a walkway around the memorial and renovating the area with decorative rocks, new grass and foliage. Miller accomplished all of this by organizing and raising funds through a car wash, as well as obtaining donations from local businesses.

“As the mother of an Eagle Scout, I know all of the hard work and dedication that goes into achieving the rank of Eagle and just how special this occasion is for Ryan and his family,” said Legislator Susan A. Berland. “He should be incredibly proud of all of the work he has done for his community and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
