Andre Sorrentino and friends will be both collecting and giving away turkeys Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Sorrentino Family Foundation is expecting to feed an estimated 3,000 people, continuing a tradition begun a few years ago. But they could use more donations to assist everyone in need.
The giveaway, which happens at his family’s PAS Autobody Shop at 627 New York Ave., Huntington, will run throughout the day instead of the evening, to prevent traffic problems, and, Sorrentino said, to keep people from having to stand in line in the cold to receive their holiday food.
Also happening next week, Humane Long Island will distribute 500 vegan meals at Community Solidarity’s Huntington Food Share Tuesday at 8 pm at the intersection of Fairground Avenue and East 6th Street.
