UPDATED: GoFundMe Campaign for Man Injured in Hit-and-Run

UPDATED: Relatives of a man who was seriously injured when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver are raising funds to help cover his medical expenses.

William Thomas was struck Thursday by a vehicle as he walked on Park Avenue near Hofstra Drive. The driver then fled the scene.

The GoFundMe campaign is seeking to raise $200,000.

A pedestrian walking on Park Avenue was seriously injured Thursday morning in a hit-and-run crash, Suffolk County police said.

William Thomas was walking north in the roadway on Park Avenue, near Hofstra Drive, when he was struck by a vehicle at approximately 5 a.m. The driver fled the scene. Thomas, 24, of Huntington, was taken by Greenlawn Rescue to Huntington Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854- 8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
