Vigil to Commemorate Those Lost to Drug Overdose

The high cost of addiction to drugs will be acknowledged this week with a candlelight vigil Wednesday in Northport.
Residents who have lost someone to a drug- or alcohol-related overdose are invited to bring a picture of that individual to place on a memorial wall the night of the vigil.
The commemoration will begin at 7:30 p.m.

National Overdose Awareness Day is commemorated on Aug.31.

More than 100,000 Americans died of overdoses in 2021, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.
