Virtual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Underway

The Huntington Hibernians’ St. Patrick’s Day celebration is underway, all online and available through the month.

Instead of marching along Main Street in Huntington this past weekend, the Hibernians and their activities can be seen by clicking this link.

This year the festivities, on display virtually in a  30-minute video, feature Irish step dancers, sounds of bagpipes and Irish music, all accompanied by an Irish coffee competition, recipes, and Irish humor. The video also offers food and drink information, including corned beef pizza from Portofino, and a contest for Irish coffee.

Guest appearances from local residents include president and CEO of Northwell Health, Michael Dowling as well as actor Robert John Burke (Law & Order).  The video is hosted by actor and voiceover artist, Hibernian Leer Leary who has performed at the John W. Engeman Theater or provided entertainment with the P.C. Richard & Son “Whistler”.

Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Division 4’s President John Broderick said the group will  will be back next year with “a tremendous in person celebration of our heritage, our community and our frontline workers.”  Dowling will lead the procession through the town of Huntington on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

Donations will be accepted to help support community charities.
