Volunteer Carpenters Fix Up Huntington Station Church Space

A group of union volunteer carpenters has been fixing up church space to expand services in the Huntington Station community.

The Rev. Dan Rivera of the Huntington Assembly of God Church said the group, known as the Latino Club from the New York City Council of Carpenters, are expected to wrap up their work by January. The area below the chapel will become multipurpose space, for children’s education and to offer resources to the community.

Eddie Herrero of the Latino Club is a member of the Huntington Station church who was leading the volunteers over the weekend. He said the group likes to give back to the community, and had done numerous other projects. “It’s been awesome,” he said of the Huntington Station project. “We’re here to build His church.”
