Volunteers put together about 1,400 backpacks stuffed with school supplies Tuesday for students in need.
Helping Hand Rescue Mission will hand them out to the students starting Wednesday.
Students from pre-school to 12th grade will be able to pick up their designated backpacks through Friday, filled with such age-appropriate school essentials as crayons, glue sticks, pencils, notebooks, folders and more.
The backpacks were put together at the Huntington Assembly of God in Huntington Station.
