Voters OK Increase in First-Aid Squad Service Award

Huntington residents have approved an increase in service awards for volunteers of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad.

The vote Friday was 325 for, 13 against.

The vote will increase the monthly service award from $20 to $30 to further incentivize volunteer ambulance workers.

The total increase would be approximately $180,000 for the ambulance district but any increase would depend on the number of calls the HCFAS receives and whether insurance recoveries would be enough to cover costs, the town said.
