Watch Issued for Severe Thunderstorms

A severe thunderstorm is expected to move into the Huntington area Wednesday evening.

The storm is predicted to bring heavy rains and winds in excess of 40 MPH. Torrential rainfall may cause localized flooding. As of 6:45, the storm was over Levittown and moving east at 30 MPH.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

The thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m., with rain continuing until 2 a.m. Thursday.
