Water Authority Warns of Scammers Trying to Get Access to Homes

The Suffolk County Water Authority warned Tuesday that  it had received complaint about people posing as authority  employees, trying to get access to people’s homes.

Scammers are claiming they need access to homes to test water, and threaten customers that their water supply could be shut off if they don’t comply. The authority said its employees don’t test water without making an appointment first.

The authority said that anyone approached by someone claiming to be an employee should call their office at 631 698-9500 to verify.
