Customers of the Suffolk County Water Authority will pay more starting Monday.
The authority voted earlier this week to raise rates by 6.6 percent. And customers using more than twice the average amount of water can expect to pay extra. The conservation rate s designed to encourage judicious use of water resources.
For the average homeowner, who uses 160,000 gallons, water bills will rise an estimated $27.12, from $409 a year to $436.12.
About 32,000 customers in the Town of Huntington are served by the authority.
