Waterproofing Work to Start June 11 at LIRR Station South Garage

Waterproofing of the south side garage of the Huntington Long Island Rail Road station is scheduled to begin June 11.

“This is one of many improvements the Town has been coordinating with the LIRR on at the Huntington Train Station,” Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said. “This project will make the south parking garage safer for Huntington commuters.”

The contractor will clean and waterproof a small portion of Level 2 of the south parking garage, including the three stairwells within the parking garage. Construction joints and cove joints will be replaced. New pavement markings shall be installed after the waterproofing is complete.

The affected portions of the parking garage are as follows:

·         The western half of Parking Level 2 – which includes 8 accessible parking stalls which will be removed from service. Additional accessible parking is located on the ground level of the garage

·         A portion of the entry ramp to Level 2

·         The entry ramp from Level 2 up to Level 3

·         All three stairwells from the ground evel to the 5th level (the treads and risers).

The  project is expected to last approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
