The New York State Department of Transportation said Friday that overnight lane closures on the Long Island Expressway are scheduled starting next week in the Towns of Huntington, Smithtown, Islip, and Brookhaven in Suffolk County.
Lanes are subject to closure weekly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting, for pavement repairs and various highway safety enhancements on this schedule:
- Tuesdays between exit 59 (Ocean Avenue/Suffolk County Route 93) and exit 53 (Sagtikos State Parkway);
- Wednesdays between exit 64 (State Route 112) and exit 59;
- Thursdays between exit 53 and exit 48 (Round Swamp Road).
This schedule is expected to continue for about four weeks.
The North Service Road will remain open during these times. Closure information and updates will be displayed on the overhead electronic message signs.
