Woman, 89, Seriously Injured in Huntington Crash

A  woman was seriously injured when a car driven by her husband crashed on LaRue Drive Wednesday night, Suffolk County police said.

Richard Scholem was eastbound on La Rue Drive driving a 2009 Nissan Altima  when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree about 7:40 p.m., police said.

Scholem, 88, of Huntington, was taken to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries. Scholem’s wife, Ann Scholem, 89, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with serious injuries.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
