Work Starts on LIRR Station Overpass

Because of work on the east end pedestrian overpass at the Long Island Rail Road Station, eastbound passengers will have to use the rear eight cars to board or exit trains.

The work began Monday.

The work will mean more brightly lit space in a glass enclosure and CCTV security cameras. It is expected to be finished this fall.

It is the first of two projects happening at the Huntington Station site. Starting Sept.13, the south parking lot will be closed for two to three months as the town repaves and adds new parking slots, installs a new accessible sidewalk on the east side of Fairground Avenue, improves drainage and lighting and resurfaces the lot.
