Work to Close Some LIE Lanes Overnight

Motorists should expect lane closures beginning Monday on Interstate 495/Long Island Expressway in the Towns of Huntington and eastward.

The eastbound left and HOV lanes will have closures between Exit 48 (Round Swamp Road) and Exit 64 (State Route 112) during the off-peak overnight hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on MondayTuesday, and Wednesday for pavement marking operations.

The westbound left and HOV lanes will have closures from Exit 65 (Suffolk County Route 16/Horse Block Road) to Exit 51 (State Route 231) between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.

The closures are part of a $6.9 million project to restripe lane markings on 14 state roads in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Lane markings are generally repainted every few years.

Work on the Long Island Expressway is expected to be completed this fall.
