WWE Wrestler and world champion Mick Foley has filmed a public service announcement to encourage Suffolk County residents to get vaccinated.
The PSA will run on TV and across various social media platforms.
“We are so close to the finish line and finally returning to normal,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “But we know the only way to fully reopen and ditch the masks is to get vaccinated. As a Long Islander, Pro-Wrestler Mick Foley understands that it takes teamwork to defeat this virus. So do you part by rolling up your sleeve and taking your shot.”
More than 839,000 Suffolk County residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In order to encourage as many residents as possible to get vaccinated, Suffolk County has taken a number of measures to eliminate hesitancy, and remove any obstacles or barriers.
In addition to Foley, other county efforts as part of the #TakeYourShot Initiative include providing free transportation to county vaccine sites for seniors, veterans and anyone who is driving impaired, community sites that make getting vaccinated convenient and accessible, and committing a more than $200,000 County investment to launch Phase 2 of the County’s “Take Your Shot’ educational campaign.
