The Huntington YMCA 5K Run/Walk in memory of Marcie Mazzola attracted lots of kids Sunday to the fun run that preceded the race but Bert Jablon of Syosset won applause and gasps of surprise as he finished and his age–91–was announced. He was accompanied at the finish by two other runners.
The goal of the Marcie Mazzola Foundation is “to help better the lives of abused and at-risk children; and to increase advocacy and community awareness about the needs of children.” Mazzola was killed in a car accident in 2002. This was the 12th year the race has been run.
