Young Republicans Collect Food for Vets

The Huntington Young Republicans club recently collected more than 1,700 pounds of food in its third annual “Our Town, Our Vets” food drive.

Volunteers solicited food donations at four local supermarkets: the Wild by Nature of Huntington Village, the Best Market of East Northport, the Best Market of Huntington Station, and the King Kullen of Huntington Station.

Donations were given to the Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank & Humanitarian Center in Huntington Station. The food is earmarked for the men and women who have served in the military who reside in the Huntington area.

Huntington Young Republicans Club President Samuel Bifulco said, “We believe that it is our duty and our responsibility to get out there and make a difference in our community. Whether that be helping the homeless or the less fortunate, giving back to various non-profit organizations in the area, or a donating time to a very special cause near and dear to our hearts, our local veterans.”
