Zoning Board to Hear Request for Downtown Apartment Conversion

A request to convert office space to apartments will come before the Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday in a public hearing.

Scott Grodsky of 263 Main Street Development wants to turn 6,572 square feet of office space into a mix of eight apartments, including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, on the upper floor of the building formerly occupied by Ann Taylor Loft.  Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty plans to move into the former store at 263-265 Main St.

A letter from the applicant’s lawyer said the conversion would be a “de-intensification” of use, because the site plan for existing use calls for 61 parking spaces, while the apartment plan would require only 8.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets Thursday at 6 p.m.
