The air quality is considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

Alerts have been issued frequently this summer, originating with smoke and pollutants caused by wildfires in Canada.

The DEC said, “In general, ozone levels are higher on hot, sunny summer days especially during episodes of stagnant air. Daily ozone levels can be influenced by local weather events, regional weather patterns and the presence of chemicals in the air that react to form ozone.”
