About a dozen AMC theaters in New York will reopen Friday, including the AMC DINE-IN Huntington Square 12 in East Northport;
AMC said that about 530 of its 600 theaters will be open by the end of October.
AMC CEO Adam Aron said, “The reopening of movie theatres around the country is essential to the theatrical industry and the entire entertainment ecosystem. It has become clear that movie studios are not willing to release blockbuster product until key major markets are open. Therefore, it is a monumental step in the right direction for our entire industry that theatres are starting to open across the state of New York.”
The chain has put numerous safety policies into practice, including the wearing of masks, the location of hand saniitizing stations, availability of disinfectant wipes, contactless tickets and expanded mobile ordering of food and beverages.
