A Huntington dog rescue organization has been awarded a grant for its work to help local senior dogs.
Get a Bull rescues pit bull-type dogs. “We are committed to helping the pit bull dog by rescuing pit bulls from shelters, controlling over population through spay & neuter, and assisting pit bull owners so they can keep their family pets,” the organization says. It is “Helping the breed most in need.”
The Grey Muzzle Organization gave a total of $390,000 to 66 animal welfare group the gres in 30 states.
Old dogs have something to wag about this summer, as The Grey Muzzle Organization announces the recipients of its annual grants, and dogs at Get A Bull, Inc are among the winners. Get A Bull rescue in Huntington, NY is one of 66 animal welfare groups in 30 states who were chosen from more than 300 applicants to receive a grant to help local senior dogs.
“This grant will help us give senior dogs like 13-year-old Fletcher the veterinary and dental care he needs to thrive in his forever foster home,” said Sharyn Glowatz of Get A Bull. “No one is more grateful or loving than an old dog, and we’re looking forward to helping more senior dogs get the second chance they all deserve.”
Over the past decade, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided nearly $1.5 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”
“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like Get A Bull make a difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle’s Executive Director Lisa Lunghofer said. “Many senior dogs in the Long Island, NY area are enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to the wonderful work of Get A Bull.”
Get A Bull Inc. rescues and rehabilitates bully breed dogs in Long Island and surrounding areas. Dogs taken into the Get A Bull program are from municipal shelters or urgent surrender situations. Over the years, the organization’s love of the seniors in their program has led to an additional focus on fospice (foster/hospice) and senior dog rescue. They are currently seeking “Forever Foster” homes for senior dogs at the end of their lives – you provide the love and Get A Bull covers medical costs. For details, please visit www.getabull.org
