Car Show Lights Up Parking Lots

Scores of young people showed off their vehicles in a show Tuesday night that packed the parking lots of Chik-fil-A and Target in Huntingon Station.

Cars, trucks, ATVs and motorcycles were lit up and occasionally revved their engines to extreme levels. Others were parked, their hoods up and their names painted on their vehicles.

The event was sponsored by Exit Events, a Coram-based organization. A man who was directing traffic and wearing a Team Exit shirt said Chik-fil-A had given the group permission. No one from the restaurant company could be reached for comment.

The vehicles packed both the lots, even as shoppers tried to enter or exit the Target store.

At one point, a Suffolk police car drove through the crowds of people who were standing in groups in the lots, and then drove away. About 50 more people stood at the entrance to the lot on Jericho Turnpike and videoed the vehicles as they left, many screeching tires or revving their engines as they peeled off in either direction.
