Dix Hills Man Gets 25 Years in Killing of Uncle

A Dix Hills man was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison for the murder of his uncle in 2018.

The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office said that David Cahoon, 44, stabbed his uncle, 70-year-old William Cahoon, 16 times in the victim’s Levittown home.

He was found after staff of the Milleridge Inn, where he had dined on Fridays and Saturdays for 25 years, became concerned when he hadn’t been seen for several weeks. Nassau Police investigated and found his body on Jan. 4, 2019.

He was convicted by a jury on June 8 of murder, possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and grand larceny.

Cahoon was arrested by NCPD Detectives on June 19, 2019.

The investigation also revealed the defendant stole $1,800 from the victim by fraudulently cashing a check from the victim’s bank account.
