Donnelly to Host Senior Events at Libraries

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly, D-17th, will be hold a series of outreach sessions for seniors in May.

The  “Legislator at Your Library” Community Outreach Programs are scheduled for the Brentwood, Deer Park, Half Hollow Hills (Dix Hills Branch) and South Huntington Public Libraries on Thursdays in May where he will be providing a range of services to residents free of charge.

At all events, interested community members can raise questions with Legislator Donnelly, receive Suffolk County Senior IDs and get documents notarized free of charge. He will be joined by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office who will be providing Suffolk County Medical IDs. In addition, a “Shed the Meds”  disposal box will be available at the Deer Park, Brentwood and South Huntington programs.

Medications can be placed in plastic bags, but  residents who drop off anything in their original containers are urged to block out the names for anonymity.

The schedule is:

• Half Hollow Hills Community Library (Dix Hills Branch), 55 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills, Thursday, May 9, 11 am – 1 pm. Note: A “Shed the Meds Program” will not available at HHH.
• Deer Park Public Library, 44 Lake Avenue, Deer Park, Thursday, May 16, 11 am – 1 pm
• South Huntington Public Library, 145 Pidgeon Hill Rd, Huntington Station, Thursday, May 23, 1 pm – 3 pm
• Brentwood Public Library, 34 Second Ave, Brentwood, Brentwood, Thursday, May 30, 1 pm – 3 pm

A licensed notary from Donnelly’s office will b available t each event.

Remember to bring photo identification and do not sign any documents in advance.

“While I will continue to provide these services free of charge at my office, I wanted to give our local residents even more opportunities to receive access to all of the important programs offered by the county,”  Donnelly said. “I am pleased to join with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office to bring these services directly into our communities. I thank the participating libraries for serving as host sites for these programs and encourage residents to drop by and visit.”
