A group calling itself the Leave It Blank NY Coalition is urging Democratic voters to submit blank ballots in Tuesday’s presidential primary.
Republican and Democratic voters will cast ballots Tuesday for former president Donald Trump or President Joe Biden in the presidential primaries.
The goal, the group said, is to send a message that Democrats in the state oppose the continuing war in Gaza, which began when Hezbolla attacked Israel on Oct. 7.
“Blank ballots will be counted, and this is our best chance to make clear that Democrats in New York will not accept the taxpayer-funded killing of innocent civilians,” the group said.
In February, Michigan voters were urged to vote “Uncommitted” in their state’s presidential primaries to demand a permanent ceasefire. New York presidential primaries do not have an uncommitted or write-in option, but blank ballots are counted.
