Entries Wanted for 2nd Annual Art@50+ Art Show

The Huntington Arts Council is partnering with AARP Long Island and the Cultural Arts Playhouse to present the second annual Art@50+, a collaborative pop-up art show.

This juried exhibition will be displayed at the Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset in December, and is based around the theme of “What Does Community Mean to You?”

This show is an open call to all artists over 50 years of age, whether already practicing or just getting started. The works can range in style from contemporary art to abstract and everything in between. Art@50+ will showcase 10 winners, with six to 8 works each chosen based the size of the work.

The juror is Charles A. Riley II, executive director of the Nassau County Museum of Art.

The deadline for entries is Oct. 19. To submit an online application, click here. AARP members and HAC members who are older than age 50 will receive free entry into the exhibition. All others will be required to pay an entry fee of $40.

One finalist also will be featured as the “Artist of the Month” online on the Huntingtonarts.org web site.

This juried exhibition will run from Dec. 7 – 31 at the Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset. On Dec. 7 from 6-8 p.m., a wine and cheese reception for winners, their families and guests to celebrate the start of the exhibit will take place at the Cultural Arts Playhouse, 170 Michael Drive, Syosset.
