Winning photos to be featured in Gurwin Center’s renowned Tiffen Gallery

Commack, NY (March 13, 2024) – Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is pleased to announce that the 31st Annual Photo Contest is now accepting applications.

Amateur photographers and students are invited to submit their best photos for a chance to win a recognition award and cash prize – and the opportunity to have their work permanently displayed in the Center’s renowned Tiffen Gallery for the enjoyment of residents, staff and visitors.  The Contest garners nearly 1000 submissions each year from across the globe which are judged by a panel of professional photographers for clarity, composition, subject matter and suitability for display at the nursing and rehabilitation center.

“Each year we are so very impressed by the incredible work submitted and grateful for the support shown to our Center, and in turn, the residents in our care,” said Stuart B. Almer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gurwin Healthcare System.

Entry forms are available for download at bit.ly/GurwinPhotoContest, via email at [email protected] or by calling the Gurwin Corporate Communications office at (631) 715-2562/69.  Contestants may submit up to seven (7)  printed black and white or color  8”x 10” or 8” x 12’ photographs at a nominal fee of $5 per entry.  All photos must be accompanied by a completed entry form noting credit card payment information or with a check payable to Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and mailed to 68 Hauppauge Rd., Commack, NY 11725, attention: Gurwin Photo Contest.

Deadline for submissions is April 15, 2024.

About the Gurwin Photo Contest

The Gurwin Photo Contest, one of Long Island’s premier photo competitions, offers amateur photographers and students an opportunity to be recognized for their work, as well as the chance to make an impact on the lives of residents living at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  Made possible by long-time sponsor The Tiffen Company, in memory of Helen and Nat Tiffen, the company’s founder and a former Gurwin resident, the Contest garners hundreds of submissions each year from around the world. More than 1000 enlarged and framed photos from throughout the years now adorn the nursing and rehabilitation center’s corridors, creating a warm and welcoming environment for residents, staff and visitors. Printed entries not selected for a prize are utilized by Gurwin’s Therapeutic Recreation teams as inspiration for art therapy projects, as well as for reminiscence programs for those with memory impairment, deeming every submission a “winner.”
