Fall Festival, Parade Draw Crowds Downtown

The Long Island Fall Festival in Heckscher Park drew thousands while others came to watch marchers in the Columbus Day parade on Main Street on Sunday.

The festival, sponsored by the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, wraps up Monday, with vendors, food, entertainment and a carnival between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Rain interrupted some of the activities on Saturday but Sunday’s sunnier though cooler weather didn’t seem to be a factor.

There was a full lineup of musicians on the Rainbow Stage at the park, while families headed with their children to see a magic show or enjoy rides. Vendors selling everything from jewelry, carvings, food, or offering ax-throwing, facepainting, archery and other entertainment, lined Prime and Madison Avenues.
