A maritime festival on Sunday kicked off Safe Boating Week in Huntington.
Scores of vendors promoting everything from boats, seashell designs, honey, jewelry, insurance, wood carvings and more were on hand as the large crowd circulated at the festival at Mill Dam Park. Others sampled food and beer, or walked their dogs and children around the ground.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Huntington Oyster Reef Project, were also on hand.
Safe Boating Week, sponsored by the Greater Huntington Boating Council, continues throughout the week with classes about assuming command of a vessel during an emergency, and understanding the basics of radar navigation.
