The Stony Brook Cancer Center Mobile Mammography Van will be heading to Huntington Station this week to offer free screenings for women over 40 who have not had a mammography in over one year.
On Thursday, the van will be parked at the Huntington Assembly of God Church, 1700 New York Ave. from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Sponsored by State Sen. Jim Gaughran and Councilwoman Joan Cergol, the free event is open to women who need to get checked in a safe, easy and convenient environment.
The van features a registration area, a comfortable waiting room, private changing and exam spaces and state-of-the-art 3D equipment. It also has an all-female medical staff.
Those who are interested can walk-in the van, but appointments are preferred by calling (631) 638-4135.
